Poornaprajna College Udupi organized a national-level seminar titled ‘Reading Literature from the Margins’ on Friday, 20th October. The event, held in collaboration with the Association of English Teachers, Mangalore University. The event brought together distinguished speakers and scholars who shared profound insights. Dr. Parinitha, Professor and Head of the Department of Studies and Research in English Mangalore University, emphasized the significance of studying literature from marginalized perspectives in her inaugural address. Dr. GS Chandrashekhar, Secretary of Poornaprajna College Management Committee addressed the gathering.
The seminar featured sessions by Prof. Shripad Bhat, former Head of the Department of English, Goa University, discussing Theoretical Landscapes. Dr. Robert Jose, Professor from the Department of English, Vijayanagar Shri Krishnadevaraya University, Bellary spoke on “Trajectories of the Subalterns’. L Romal M Singh an LGBTQ activist and journalist, provided valuable insights into Perspectives of Life Narratives. .The sessions were skilfully moderated by esteemed Alumni of the college: Dr. Vishnumurthy Prabhu, Dr. Praveen Shetty, and Dr. Prasad Rao. The event was presided over by Dr. Ramu L, Principal, Dr Victor Vaz,President AET, Prof Sojan George, Secretary , AET, Prof Vasantha Raviprakash HoD English, Dr Vinay Kumar, IQAC Coordinator were present.
